Pre-Employment Processing

Before being onboarded at the Department of Education, the following pre-employment steps must be completed:

  1. Submission of the required pre-employment forms, background questionnaire, supporting documentation (including diplomas, proof of licenses/certifications required for the civil service title, proof of identity and citizenship.
  2. Fingerprinting 
  3. Candidate background investigation (type and level of review dependent upon title and salary).
  4. Some titles may require a drug test as part of pre-employment processing. The requirement for a drug test would be included in the DCAS Notice of Examination (NOE) as a condition of employment. 

Failure to submit the required documentation or to receive clearance by the Department of Education shall constitute grounds for denial of appointment, assignment, or promotion to an affected position. If employment in the position has already commenced, shall constitute grounds for termination of service.

Any misrepresentation of material facts on the questionnaire or on any other documents submitted may have an adverse effect upon employment with the DOE.
