New York State sets graduation requirements. Some requirements are different based on the year a student started ninth grade. This determines a student's cohort. You can see the resources below for more information about graduation options based on the year the student started high school.
If students and families have any questions about graduation requirements, they should speak to their school.
The Board of Regents and New York State Education Department (NYSED) are reviewing graduation requirements. Current NYCPS graduation requirements remain in effect. None of the proposed changes are final until they are approved by the Board of Regents. Visit the New York State Education Department website to learn more about the Graduation Measures Initiatives.
