All votes have been tallied, Christina McGrath (alternate: Frank Panebianco) has been elected as the Teacher-Member of the Teachers' Retirement Board for 2024-2027.
Pursuant to §13-507 of the Administrative Code of the City of New York, an election is required to fill the vacancy that will be caused by the expiration of the current term of office of the incumbent Teacher-Member of the Teachers' Retirement Board. This Teacher-Member will be elected for a three-year term.
Pension Election Day was Wednesday, May 8, 2024, when balloting began for the election of a Teacher-Member of the Teachers' Retirement Board for a term of three years from may 2024- May 2027. Voting was open starting Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at 9:00am and closing at 5:00pm on Thursday, May 9, 2024.
A total of 130,661 ballots were sent out to contributors. A total of 17,720 votes were received between May 8, 2024, 9:00am, and May 9, 2024, 5:00pm.
On Tuesday, May 21, 2024, the final counting of the ballots took place at 65 Court Street, Brooklyn, NY, Room 200, at 4:00pm.
Christana McGrath (Alternative: Frank Panebianco) received 12,200, or 68.8% of the votes. Ben Morgenroth (Alternative: Daniel Alicea) received 5,520, or 31.2% of the votes. Having received a majority of the votes, Christina McGrath (Alternative: Frank Panebianco) was announced as the winner.
