Survey Overview
Every year, we ask families, teachers and staff of grades 3-K through 12, and students in grades 6-12 to take the NYC School Survey. The survey is designed to collect important information about each school's ability to support student success. School leaders can use feedback from the survey to reflect and improve schools and programs. You can learn more about the NYC School Survey by contacting your school or program.
2026 NYC School Survey Administration
The 2026 NYC School Survey administration will take place from February 9, 2026 through April 1, 2026.
Survey Coordinators are invited to join a virtual training to prepare for this year’s survey administration.
Each 90-minute session will provide:
- Important survey reminders and updates
- Guidance to support school and program planning
- Opportunities to connect with other survey coordinators
- Q&A Session
Registration will remain open through the day of each session.

Updates to the 2025-26 NYC School Survey
Announcing the 2025-26 Revised NYC School Survey - Student Instrument
- The NYC School Survey Student instrument is redesigned to be shorter, more accessible, and more actionable. Revisions were developed with input from more than 300 principals, students, researchers, and content experts.

Announcing the Pilot Opportunity for Fifth-Grade Students
- K-8/D75 schools may opt in to pilot the fifth-grade version of the NYC School Survey this spring. The pilot aims to elevate elementary student voice and inform future survey design. Register HERE for an upcoming information session to learn more about participating in the pilot.

The 2025 NYC School Survey was administered from February 10, 2025, through April 11, 2025.

The NYC School Survey is administered annually since 2007. Survey information from 2007 through 2024, including citywide survey results and copies of the surveys, are archived on the Survey Archive page and/or on NYC Open Data.
