District Wellness Advisory Council

The NYC Department of Education established the District Wellness Advisory Council in 2017 to recommend, review, and support physical education, health education, and other wellness-related policies, practices and resources included in the Citywide DOE Wellness Policy.

Similar to School Wellness Councils, the NYC Department of Education District Wellness Advisory Council includes parents, students, teachers, school administrators, and representatives from community-based organizations, City government, and engaged citizens who can provide insight into school and community priorities. The volunteer advisory group provides guidance to the NYC DOE’s Office of School Wellness Programs on building stronger, quality health and physical education, and developing communities of wellness supportive of these subject areas.
