The New York City Department of Education (NYCDOE) has partnered with school districts in Los Angeles, Miami-Dade, Chicago, Las Vegas, Broward County (FL), Orlando, Dallas, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Boston to form the Urban School Food Alliance (“USFA”). The USFA seeks to combine the purchasing power of several of the largest school districts in the nation in an effort to drive quality up and costs down through volume consolidation. Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Orlando, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Boston’s use of this contract is yet to be determined, so they will not be included in the estimates nor the evaluation process.

Bidders will be required to quote net cost for product from the manufacturers to the vendor’s warehouse and a delivery mark-up inclusive of all service costs, such as operational and transportation costs, including fuel and overhead, as well as profit margin. There is no approved brand or manufacturer.

B2966: Blood – Borne Pathogens Inoculation

The New York City Department of Education (NYCDOE) on behalf of the Office of Occupational Safety and Health (OOSH) is seeking bids from qualified organizations for the provision of Blood-borne Pathogens Inoculation services to New York City public schools.

OSHA regulations and New York State law require that employers offer Hepatitis B vaccines to employees with occupational risk for exposure to potentially infectious blood or materials. OOSH seeks a contractor to provide inoculation services to the approximately 6,000 NYCDOE school nurses, health aides, and special education staff annually who are covered by these State and federal mandates. The contractor will be required to administer a three-part regime Hepatitis B vaccine to employees, medical supplies (excluding vaccines and needles), to refrigerate remaining Hepatitis B vaccines, and to package and dispose of medical waste generated at each site. The contractor will also use the Blood-Borne Pathogens Compliance Tool (BBPCT), an interactive database, to review scheduled events, confirm or decline vaccination events, generate various reports, and transmit files that specify vaccination events’ completion. This RFB may result in one (1) requirements contract agreement. The awarded contract will be for a term of five (5) years. It is anticipated that services will commence on or about June 2018.

  • Products and services covered under this agreement will include Apple hardware and software products, Apple accessories, Apple training, and the AppleCare protection plan. DOE-required customization of Apple products will also be included. The customization includes etching of computer casings, asset tags, and installation of CompuTrace tracking software.

    Apple Authorized Resellers are prohibited from selling Apple products to private or public educational institutions in the United States. In addition, customization by any party other than Apple voids product warranties. For these reasons, the DOE must enter into a sole source agreement with Apple in order to purchase these products. In so doing, the DOE will obtain the best possible pricing from Apple.

    The estimated contract amount is based on historical data. Apple is offering the DOE discounts equal to or greater than those offered to any other educational entity; pricing has therefore been determined to be fair and reasonable.
