Employee Resource Groups

Cultivating a workplace environment that embodies and supports the diversity of our employees, students, parents, families and communities is important to the DOE. We are a New York City based organization of global thinkers who come from different backgrounds and bring to the table a variety of experiences and insights. To leverage our diversity and create a more inclusive work environment, the Office of Organizational Development, Talent & Culture (ODTC), in collaboration with the Office of Equal Opportunity and Diversity Management’s Diversity Management Unit (DMU), is excited to support ERGs at the DOE's central offices.

Currently the DOE has six Employee Resource Groups (ERGs). These ERGs are recognized as a resource to the organization and to our employees by providing opportunities for members to network, sponsor personal and professional development activities, address common issues, provide support for DOE initiatives, and promote cultural awareness and understanding.

For more information about the ERGs and their leaders, or if you are interested in creating an ERG or transitioning your existing DOE workplace group into an ERG, visit the ERG SharePoint page. Before you apply, you are encouraged to schedule a call with the program manager, Jeannie Gallego (OEODiversity@schools.nyc.gov) to discuss your desired ERG, ask any questions you may have, and receive helpful feedback.

For general information about ERGs at the DOE, please contact ERG@schools.nyc.gov.
